5,000 years ago, during the reign of the Yellow Emperor, his most beloved first wife, the Empress Hsi-Ling was drinking her tea in her garden.  As she sipped her tea, a cocoon fell from a Mulberry Tree and landed in her tea.  Upon contact with the steaming liquid, the cocoon began to disintegrate. As she attempted to remove the cocoon from her tea, it continued to unravel.  By the time she had finished, the fine filaments had covered her entire garden in a shimmering, lustrous cloud.

From this fine filament, Silk Habotai was created. Commonly known as China Silk, this plain weave fabric was originally used for Kimono’s in Japan and hand painted to exacting standards. Still wonderfully lustrous, Silk Habotai reflects the light and shimmers as you move, lighter than air and delightfully comfortable to wear. From the fall of the Roman Empire to modern day lingerie, use Silk Habotai from Damask Raven and create History in Style.
